Classroom expectations
Each school year, my class makes a social contract--a student created document of expectations and "rules". When creating the document, they are asked to consider 3 things: How do you (the student) want to be treated? How do you think I (the teacher) want to be treated? What will we do if there is a problem?
If a child is violating the class' social contract, he/she will:
1. Receive a verbal warning. Student will be asked the following 4 questions:
What are you doing?
What are you supposed to be doing?
Is that what you were doing?
What are you going to do about it?
*This step is usually all that is needed to correct misbehavior.
2. If misbehavior continues, student will be sent to a buddy classroom for a brief time to "redirect" themselves.
3. In extreme cases where I feel I cannot correct the behavioral situation, student will be then be sent to the office. Parent will always be notified if this happens--either via phone call or note in planner.
